About Us

Jim Abbott

Jim Abbott is a lifelong resident of the Cleveland area, having graduated from University School and The College of Wooster. After earning his B.A. in business economics from Wooster, he proceeded to spend a combined 14 years in a variety of marketing and marketing analytics functions at Progressive Insurance and then KeyBank.

A quick study, Jim quickly caught on in both the insurance and banking worlds and became a vital strategic marketing resource. With expertise in market analysis and segmentation, product design and implementation, market and competitive analysis, and research, Jim has a proven track record in turning data into decisions, leading to increased marketshare and shareholder value, for his clients.

After many years working with internal clients, and behind a desk, Jim moved to the world of medical device sales, with Veinwave. Representing a newly FDA approved device, Jim worked with plastic and cosmetic surgeons, dermatologists, and vascular surgeons. Charged with bringing this new device to his territory, Jim's ability to quickly build a relationship helped make Veinwave a leading provider in the treatment of spider veins.  Although Jim thoroughly enjoyed his time in medical sales, he frequently found himself having marketing related conversations with his medical clients. With two years of outside sales experience in his pocket, and armed with years of marketing background, Jim came to WRIS in the summer of 2011.

Initially focusing on the area of social media, Jim's broad background allowed him to quickly move into his current role as Director of Sales. His ability to build and manage client relationships, combined with his marketing background, allows Jim to find new opportunities for his customers, while bringing a variety of solutions to the table.

"I must say that you all are an amazing bunch of people. The updates Adam made created a page that looks a lot like the original hard copy. Your response time and your diligence are what makes WRIS such a great company. Thank you again for listening to our needs." - Stephanie Penkal

What are your hobbies outside of work? What do you like to do during your time off?

I really like what I do, I enjoy programming and it takes up a good portion of my time off as well. I enjoy going for motorcycle rides in the summer and early fall. If I had more time (probably when I retire) I would like to get my pilots license – I’ve enjoyed the flying experience I’ve had thus far.
