Cleveland Heights-University Heights Schools: 2011 WebAward

September 2011

WRIS Web Services was awarded a 2011 "School Standard of Excellence" WebAward for the Cleveland Heights-University Heights (CH-UH) Schools website.  The CH-UH website is a source of information for all audiences, from students and teachers, to parents and the community.  As CH-UH Communications and Community Engagement Director Angee Shaker puts it, the website is "...our communications hub, we couldn't survive without it."  Winning a WebAward recognizes the website's success.

Orange City Schools: NSPRA/Ohio Achievement Award

September 2011

At the 2011 Ohio School Public Relations Association Spring Conference, the Orange City Schools website won an Achievement Award in the website category. The Achievement Awards "recognize exemplary school public relations plans, practices and projects." All entries are judged according to how well they met best practices established by a panel of expert judges.  In particular websites were judged on content, design, writing, editing, graphic, photo and video enhancements, and ease of use.

The Orange City Schools website reflects the mission of the schools and serves the community as an informative and useful tool.  Realizing the potential of Social Media for reaching parents, students and community members, Orange began Twitter and Facebook campaigns. And since Orange utilizes WRIS's custom website development services, it was easy to add on a utility (WRIS inTEGRATED) to coordinate social media efforts. Now with just one click of a button, Orange can push updates to Facebook, Twitter and their website via WRIS inTEGRATED.

Euclid City Schools: Outstanding Website WebAward

September 2010

WRIS received an "Outstanding Website" award in the School category for the site it created for Euclid City Schools. The Euclid City Schools website scored well above the industry average for design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copywriting and ease of use. The Euclid City School District houses students in over thirteen academic buildings, so their redesign was a challenge to consolidate information into one audience-specific website. The redesign needed to cater to the entire Euclid City Schools community. As a result, the site includes an updated identity and layout with audience-specific navigation and RSS feeds. Judges from the WebAward competition referred to the site as “a nice site visually with great photos that capture the spirit of Euclid City Schools.” Another judge called it an “absolutely wonderful site. Easy to follow and filled with useful information. I am jealous that my community schools do not have such a wonderful user friendly site.”

Mayfield Village: Standard of Excellence Web Award

September 2010

WRIS received a "Standard of Excellence" award in the Government category for the site it created for Mayfield Village. The Mayfield Village website scored above the industry average for innovation, technology and ease of use. Mayfield Village wanted to create a website that would serve as a tool for the residents and business community in the area. The website now features various areas specific to audience, including Government, Services, Residents, Planning Development and Recreation. One WebAwards judge commented that the “calendar and CMS (Content Management System) pieces are well integrated. The site maintains a consistent flow without gaps. Layout is simple, clean and well orchestrated.” Another judge stated, “The quick links and calendar seem very useful for the audience.”
