Mobile Marketing

With the proliferation of smartphones, iPads and other handheld internet devices, it’s no surprise that mobile web use grew 110% last year and is one of the hottest trends on the web.

It’s no longer enough to just have a website that looks good on a PC.  Websites need to look and function well on smartphones and tablet computers or they run the risk of turning away the important and growing sector of mobile web users.

The simplest way to accomplish this is by creating a streamlined version of your website to compliment your main site.  Screen space and download times are important considerations, so your mobile site should be simple on both graphics and text.

Once the site is complete, a small snippet of code is added to your main website.  This code detects if a user is visiting on a traditional computer or a mobile device, and renders the appropriate version of your website. Some choose to integrate their mobile site into their standard site's content manager.  This makes updating information simple and streamlined.

Another way organizations are integrating mobile into their marketing efforts is through the use of QR codes.  QR codes look like bar codes.  A user scans the QR code with their mobile device, and is then redirected to a specific webpage.

Companies use QR codes in print ads as a way to provide further information about the product or service.  This reduces costs, creates a more dynamic user experience and allows robust tracking of customer interest.

Manufacturers are using QR codes as well.  With a QR code on a part or machine, instructions and specifications are easily accessible on the shop floor or on the job site.

There are many more ways companies can leverage mobile.  Contact the WRIS Web Services team for your free consultation!
