Q: Why isn't my spam filter working? I'm getting bombarded with tons of spam, as myself!

A:

Spammers love to use a tactic called 'spoofing' where they send emails as the person they're spamming.  They do this with the hope the user has put their own email address on their approved senders list. 

The approved senders list is basically a VIP access to your inbox. Any email address in the approved senders list will not be filtered at all, it won't even be looked at by the spam filter.

If you're receiving a lot of spam in your inbox, check to see if its coming from your email address.  If it is you most likely need to remove your own email account from your approved senders list.

Q: I got a support email asking for my passwords, is that really from WRIS?

A:

WRIS will never email you asking for your password. You can always distinguish a WRIS technician email by the signature. You will never get an anonymous support email from WRIS; there will always be a name and valid contact information with every email.

Q: Why doesn't my Webmail work in Safari?

A:

Webmail is not compatible with Safari. If you’re on a Mac we recommend you use a different Web Browser like FireFox, which can be downloaded for free.

Q: Why doesn't my Webmail work in IE8?

A:

Simply put your browser into compatibility mode and it should fix the display issues you are experiencing.

Q: I added a user in Imail but the user's email is bouncing!

A:

When adding a new user to our email systems please remember to add them both to Imail and Postini.

Q: How do I change my Postini password?

A:

Go to https://login.postini.com/ and attempt to login. If your attempt was not successful you will be presented with the option to reset your password via email. Postini will then send you a new temporary password to login with. You will be forced to set a new password upon logging into Postini.

Q: I reset my Postini password and I am being asked for my old password, but I don't remember it!

A:

The old password they are referring to is the temporary password they emailed you.

Q: How do I add a user to my approved/blocked senders list?

A:

1. Log onto Postini’s message center: https://login.postini.com/

2. Select ‘Junk Email’ in the top left hand corner.

3. Add the user to the appropriate list.

Q: How do I update my spam filtering levels?

A:

1. Log onto Postini’s message center: https://login.postini.com/

2. Select ‘Junk Email’ in the top left hand corner.

3. Change your filtering levels to your desired level.

Q: How do I configure an out of office auto response in Webmail?

A:

1. Log onto webmail using your full email address as your username: http://webmail.wris.net/

2. Select preferences in the bottom left hand corner.

3. Scroll down to the Auto Response section and check the box: Enable.

4. Fill out your personal response.

Note: This will send a single response per email address. If that user emails you again they will not get the response multiple times.

Q: What is a domain registrar?

A:

A registrar is a company that allows you to purchase domain names for a limited period of time. Domains are bought on a yearly basis. You must buy them form a certified registrar to prevent people from trying to purchase domains that are already owned.

Q: How do I register new domain names?

A:

You need to find a registrar and purchase it through them. We generally recommend http://godaddy.com/

Q: I have a new domain name, how do I add it to my site and/or email?

A:

Email support your new domain, your domain you’d like it to work with, and any services you have from us that you would liked linked to it (website only, website and email).
